Mayor of St. Ann’s Bay and Secretary Manager of the St. Ann Parish Council departs for Mexico. The two member delegation to participate in the International Conference on Learning Cities.
(St. Ann’s Bay Jamaica) (September28, 2015) Chairman of the St. Ann Parish Council and Mayor of St. Ann’s Bay Councillor Desmond Gilmore along with Secretary Manager Mr. Alfred Graham, JP yesterday departed the Island for Mexico.
The two member delegation will be attending the 2nd International Conference on Learning Cities (ICLC) slated to start today spanning through to Thursday October 1, 2015. The Conference is planned by UNESCO and the Government of Mexico City.
The Conference is expected to mark a milestone in ‘Building Sustainable Learning Cities’ through a dynamic agenda of plenary sessions, parallel regional fora and a Mayor’s forum. Participants will expand their understanding of how to develop sustainable learning Cities, Strengthen partnerships and networks and implement the key features of Learning Cities.
A platform for Mayors, City Education Executives and experts from various sectors and international organizations to share their expertise, learn from others’ experiences, forge partnerships and create synergies stand as the major goal of this conference.
Mayor Gilmore and Secretary Manager are expected back on the Island on Thursday October 1, 2015. In their absence Deputy Mayor of St. Ann’s Bay, Cllr Delroy Redway will assume Mayoral duties and Miss Claudiah Carter Director of Administration that of Secretary Manager.
